- The Ministry of Labor has started a specially designed e-shram portal for the workers of the unorganized sector.
- The government estimates that about 38 crore laborers will be able to register themselves on the portal.
- Registered unorganized worker to get e-SHRAM card having UAN number, the e-SHRAM card is valid throughout the country. The registration starts on 26-08-2021.

E Shram card Self Registration Process
The new E-Shram portal is exclusively for the unorganized sector through which it has been introduced to claim government benefits. Registering on this portal is very easy. You will only need a few documents for this. First of all, you will need your Aadhar card and registered mobile number. If the worker does not have an Aadhar card, he can visit his nearest CSC and register through biometric authentication.
e-SHRAM portal registration has begun. Unorganized workers can go to the e-SHRAM portal – https://www.eshram.gov.in/ and register their details. More than 38 crore workers can register themselves under one portal. Registration is totally free and workers do not have to pay anything. Notably, an e-SHRAM card will be issued and it will be acceptable across the country.

Procedure to Apply Online E-Shram Portal Application Form 2021
Step 1- Visit the Official Website of E-Shram Portal i.e. register.eshram.gov.in.
Step 2- On the Homepage, go to the Option “Self Registration” section or click on the ‘Register one-SHRAM’ link.
Step 3- The Self Registration page will be displayed on the screen.
Step 4- Now Enter the Aadhaar-linked mobile number, captcha code, EPFO , and ESIC member status. and click on send OTP.
Step 5- After this, you have to enter the OTP received in the OTP box.

E-Shram Portal 2021: Online Application Form PDF Download – Minister of Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav launched the e-Shram portal and handed it over to the states/UTs for registration of unorganized workers across the country.
The Government of India, through the portal, aims to integrate social welfare schemes for these workers in coordination with states and trade unions. The registration of the workers on the new official portal will be coordinated by the Ministry of Labour, state governments, trade unions, and common services centers (CSCs).
After registration on the E-Shram portal, workers will get an accident insurance cover of up to Rs 2 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana ie PMSBY. Apart from this, all social security benefits will be distributed through this portal.
In situations like emergency and national pandemics, this database can be used to provide the necessary support to eligible unorganized workers.
e Shram Card
Workers will be issued an e-SHRAM card with a unique Universal Account Number (UAN) and will be able to access the benefits of the various social security schemes through this card anywhere anytime, Apurva Chandra, Secretary, Labour Ministry said.

The workers will be issued a new e-SHRAM card which has a unique 12-digit number. Beneficiary Eligibility Guidelines:
- The Applicant’s must be citizen of India.
- Any worker who worked under unorganized sector.
- The Applicant’s Age should be between 16-59 years (28-08-1961 to 27-08-2005).
