AAI Recruitment 2026: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has released Advertisement No. 14/2026/CHQ/SSCOs for the engagement of Short Service Commission Officers (SSCOs) as Consultants on a contract basis. A total of 39 Consultant positions are available at various AAI airports.

The recruitment is specifically for retired Short Service Commission Officers of the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and Indian Coast Guard who have relevant Air Traffic Control (ATC) experience. The selected consultants will support Air Traffic Services Units at Joint User Defence Airfields for an initial period of one year.

Eligibility Criteria – AAI Recruitment 2026

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have:

• A Graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
• The prescribed professional qualifications include:
  • Basic ATC Course / ATM
  • AL (Basic)
  • GCA/ATSS Course

These qualifications are specified for the Consultant positions in the notification.

Professional Experience

Applicants should have:

• Undertaken ATC duties for a minimum of 5 years cumulatively.
• At least 1 year of ATC duties at a Joint User Defence Airfield.

Age Limit

The applicant should not be more than 50 years of age as on the last date for submission of the application.

In addition, the period between retirement from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force or Indian Coast Guard and the application closing date should not exceed 6 years.

Salary / Monthly Remuneration

The monthly remuneration will be fixed in accordance with the applicable DoPT guidelines.

As stated in the notification, the fixed monthly amount will be arrived at by deducting the basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement. The remuneration will remain unchanged throughout the contract period, with no annual increment or percentage increase during the contract.

Allowances

• HRA: Not admissible.
• Transport Allowance: A fixed appropriate amount may be allowed for commuting between residence and the place of work, subject to the conditions specified by AAI.
• TA/DA: May be allowed for official tours, if applicable, as per the entitlement at the time of retirement.
• TDS: Tax will be deducted at source.

Period of Engagement

The initial engagement will be for one year.

The contract may be extended by another year at a time, subject to the conditions in the notification. The total cumulative engagement period cannot exceed five years, and any extension cannot go beyond the maximum age of 55 years.

The engagement will be on a full-time basis, and selected consultants will not be permitted to take up another assignment during the engagement period.

Job Responsibilities – AAI Recruitment 2026

The selected Consultants will assist and support Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations at the concerned Joint User Defence Airfield.

Their duties may include:

• Supporting ATC operations
• Supporting Surface Movement Control (SMC) operations
• Watch extension
• Other ATC-related activities
• Duties assigned by the ATS In-Charge from time to time

Leave

Consultants will be entitled to 1.5 days of leave for each completed month of service.

Unavailed leave cannot be carried forward or encashed into the next calendar year. Absence beyond admissible leave and notified holidays may result in a proportionate deduction from consultancy remuneration.

The selection process will include:
